The Hixson Fellowship was established by the International Foundation in 1983 in honor of George F. Hixson (left), the first President of Kiwanis International, and to build the endowment fund of our International Foundation.  A Worldwide Service Project was adopted by Kiwanis with the goal of virtually eliminating iodine deficiency disorders, and now, the ELIMINATE Project aims to rid 38 developing countries of Maternal Neo-natal Tetanus. Each contribution of $1,000 touches the lives of hundreds of mothers and their children.  Kiwanis International has made a commitment to the children of the world to virtually eliminate this disease from the face of the earth.
